Login Automatically Windows 8.1/8/7 without Entering Password

For security purpose, you may create a password for your account on your Windows PC. When you access to your Windows, you will be greeted by a welcome page. You need to enter the password to login Windows. If you feel that going through this process is a bit irritated and annoyed, you can personalize your PC by allowing you to login automatically to your Windows without entering password. It is an easy way to speed up the startup time.

It's not to remove your Windows password. This way your account still has a password but you're never asked for it when Windows starts. Just follow the tutorial outlined below to make Windows automatically logon to your user account. This tutorial applies to Windows 8.1, Windows 8 and Windows 7.

How to Set a User to Log on Automatically without Typing the Password?

  • Step 1: For Windows 7 and lower Windows versions, click on "Start" and then type either "netplwiz.exe" or "control userpasswords2" in the search box. Press "Enter" Key.

    In Windows 8.1/8, press "Win" + "R" keys and then type the command shared above in the text box. Click "OK".

  • Step 2: A User Account dialog box will appear. Uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" checkbox and click the "OK" button.

  • Step 3: Another dialog box will appear asking you to type in the default user account that you'd like to login whenever you start your computer. The entered user name should already be correct but if it's not, type the name you want. Then enter the account password twice. You only need to do this procedure once.

Note: If your computer has more than one user account and you configure an auto login for one of those accounts, you will need to log off or switch users from your automatically logged in account to use the other user account. So, you're actually slowing down the other user's experience.
